About

The Helensburgh and District Branch of The Royal British Legion Scotland, make a difference every day to the lives of Scotland's veterans, by providing community, friendship and practical advice.  Whether these veterans left the military service recently or many years ago, the Branch is always available to offer support and advice the best way we can.

Membership is open to the ex-service community and their dependents, those still serving, and all those who support the aims and objectives of the organisation.

The Branch was officially reformed by our current Chairman Mr Geoff Coles in September 2021.  Since then we have grown in both the Branch Officers and members.

So what have we done so far?.....

Branch Members were invited to Hermitage Academy Secondary school as part of their

'Armed Forces Day' to talk about their experience of serving in the armed forces.

We are also planning a combined cadet sports day working alongside all cadet forces, HM Naval Base Clyde, and the local community.

Our Public Relations Officer successfully entered  the Rhu War memorial and garden into Legion Scotland's "Best kept war memorial" campaign.  It was key to make sure that the Branch members, and local community were involved in this project.

Along with Branch volunteers, serving Navy personnel also offered their services, to hand clean the war memorial.  You can read more about this via our news & blog post here.

Not only did it win the Glasgow, Ayrshire Dumfries and Galloway area "new entry" category, it was also entered into the National Awards.  Unfortunately Rhu memorial just missed out on the National Award, but the Branch have their eyes on winning this category in 2024!

Our monthly meetings are an informative way for you to hear what the Branch officers have been involved with in-between meetings, and what events and social outings are scheduled for the future.

We also make time for fun! The quiz and raffle at the later part of the evening and out social nights are always popular, and there is always time for a coffee...or beer

and a catch up.
